| "Very little is known about Arunah B. Lathrop. It is however certain
that he and his brother Lucian B. followed his brother Pliny to Ohio arriving
with his wife and children in 1835. A copy of the discharge from the army
is preserved in the family, dated May 1, 1814. It states that Arunah was
born February 9, 1793 and that at 21 years of age he was 5 feet 8 inches
tall; had light hair and blue eyes; that he was born in Bethel, Vermont
and was by occupation a farmer. He served one year and 9 days, the full
period of his enlistment, in the company of Capt. E. Burnaps, Regiment
of M.S. Infantry and was honorably discharged.... Arunah was a democrat,
a constable, a road supervisor in 1840 and a trustee. In 1849 he was a
member of the county central committee. He acted as a delegate to the nominating
conventions for the Democratic party. He helped organize Richfield Christian
Church and was a township treasurer"
